The Gulifest has been around for the past 18 years and every year it has grown and attracted a host of well know performers. As alway it is a very family orientated event bringing people from all over and all walks of life together to celebrate music. It really doesn’t matter how old or what your background is as long as you share the passion and love for music. Happening over three days The Guilfest attracts tens of thousands of revellers to its yearly event.
One thing thats fantastic about The Gulifest is that you don’t have one type of genre of music. All musical tastes are catered for from RnB and hip hop to Dance and Rock.
This years headliners included The Orbital on Friday, Human League on Saturday & Status Quo on the Sunday.
One of the acts that stole the stage was supporting act N Dubz. They really set the stage alight and pulled the crowd in with their performance. I could hear the crowds screaming from the vip tent. It was great to see a band go on stage for as long as they did. They were on stage for a full hour and really gave a performance full of energy. It’s is no wonder their fan base has grown and grown.
After N-Dubz, we walked across to the Funky End dance tent where Tinie Tempah was due to be on at 10pm. As we waited his car pulled up and out came Tinie Tempah. I always imagined him to be quite a loud character but was suprised to see he was a very laid back character. He only spoke when needed and didn’t say something unless it was needed.
On Sunday, the last day of the festival the place was still buzzing with laughter and excitement. We made our way to the funky dance tent where Friction was just about to go on. As we watched from backstage we could see the crowd going crazy the atmosphere was just like it was the previous days.
With our photographer for the day o snapping pictures I decided to speak to the crowd. One girl I spoke to said she’d been there since Thursday night and had been coming to the festival for the past 3 years. She also added she would definately be back next year.
Another thing I loved about The Gulifest is that despite people drinking there no was trouble. It really is a family orientated event with so much to do for everyone regardless on what kind of music your into and thats what makes The Guilfest so unique.
Next on stage was Chase and Status who have been nominated at this year UMA’s. They performed an energetic DJ Set draw in huge crowds. It really was a great end to what was a fantastic weekend.
We got a few moments with Tom Upton who would be closing the festival, check out what he had to say below.
