Orie’s back with something “Special”.
Hailing from Harrow aka Heightsville in North West London, Orie has been on the music scene for a minute now taking centre stage at events such as Musical Blossom and Leicester Carnivals 25th anniversary extravaganza last year.
After releasing a few mixtapes under his own label “The Shogun Empire” Orie is now readying himself to release his debut full length album
The first single from the upcoming album was released to coincide with Valentines Day this past Monday (14th Feb 2011).
The track entitled “Special” sure lives up to its name sake.
One of my favourite tracks of the year so far by any signed or unsigned artist, this track really does set the bar high for what we can expect from Orie’s upcoming album.
The track tells an intricate tale of the lead up to the meeting of a fine lady and our protagonist. The line “You don’t want no money but you make me want to spend that” can sure resonate with many or our reader and I’m sure we’ve all felt like that.
The story itself and the way the track is delivered transports you into the situation.
A situation many readers I’m sure have been through.
What makes the track so appealing is its honesty. There’s no exaggerated tale as so often heard in many hip hop tracks these days, there’s just a simple honesty that harks back to the days of Kanye’s College dropout. This also makes it more realistic and easier to relate to.
The hook on this track is Orie’s unique and trademark singing voice. It’s infectious and catchy and the “Woooooo’s” will be playing in your head long after the track has ended.
The production on “Special” is by Orie and again is top notch.
Orie’s set the bar extremely high for him self but I got faith that this mult-talented singer/rapper/producer can deliver.
Possibly the years first contender for The Mixup’s Single of the year!
We will be hoping to catch up for an interview with Orie shortly, so watch this space.
