Unsigned Stars returns for 2013
Unsigned Stars, London’s biggest under 21’s talent showcase, kicked off their 2013 competition (26 February), along with their new Rockstars brand, in some style. Held at the Richmix centre in Shoreditch the launch event focused on the new Unisigned Rockstars concept with all artists were accompanied by the new Unsigned Stars house band, Urban Rockers. This created a more acoustic and personal vibe to the whole show and a step to bigger things for the team behind Unsigned Stars/Rockstars.
The show opened up with rapper MRW (My Realest Words) performing a touching freeestyle before being joined by R&B upcoming singer O’Micah, to perform the track ‘Invincible’. The two artists blended together well – with O’Micah’s powerful voice added to the track.
Invincible will be featuring on MRW’s upcoming mixtape and hopefully will also be accompanied by a video as the song is a true smash.
Other performers on the night included Rico Banks, the cute but sexy Mango and Lashes, the 2011 Unsigned Stars winner Stormzy and J-Unity who were the winners of Unsigned Stars last year (2012).
J-Unity seem to take their game to the next level every time they perform. Their rendition of Rihanna’s Diamond’s deserved the standing applause it got and was possibly the best version of the song we at The Mixup have yet heard.
Huge applauds was also received for Mango and Lashes, who impressed with their pristine vocals and rapping skills.
This years Unsigned Stars promises bigger and better things as the next search for London’s hottest under 21’s urban talent heats up.
Hosted by Michael Dappah (returning from last year) and new host Miss London, as demonstrated at the launch event the hosts will be giving you plenty of jokes and delving to bring you a little more about each artist.
So if you’re a rapper, singer, dancer, member of a dance crew or have another amazing talent stay tuned and up to date with Unsigned Stars to find out when auditions will be opening up.
With dates, venues and prizes to be revealed soon, The Mixup will have exclusive access to artists, the latest news, backstage action as well as bringing you interviews and exclusive clips.
