Urban Music Awards 2010 – Tinie Tempah takes home 3 awards

Tinie Tempah, Diversity, Damage, McLean and Nathan were just a few of the top stars The Mixup interviewed at the 8th annual Urban Music Awards. Over the next few weeks The Mixup will be bringing you exclusive interviews from the night.

Hosted by Andy Abraham and Ricky Whittle from Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, Celebrating the finest of the UK’s urban scene in style, the Urban Music Awards is the Europe’s premier awards show dedicated to the UK and European Urban Music Scene.

Awards on the night included Jay Sean picking up Best Asian Act, Diversity picking up Best Dance Group and N-Dubz picking up Best Album for “Against All Odds”.

But it was chart topper, Tinie Tempah who stole the show with a record 500,000 public votes earning him Best Newcomer, Best Collaboration and the Best HipHop Act . JLS took the award for Best R&B Act and Best Group.

The awards were presented by well known personalities from the world of music, TV, and sport including; Caprice, Levi Roots, Ricky Whittle, Amy Winehouse and many more.
On the night there were performances from Snakey Man, newcomers NVS pronounced Envious), dance troupe Status, Coolio, Damage and more, with the latter picking up an outstanding contribution and achievement award.

Celebrity guests also included the likes of Caprice, Richard Blackwood, Keri Catona, Levi Roots, Egypt and many more from the world of television and music.

Over the next few weeks The Mixup will be bringing you exclusive interviews from the night with our finest home grown urban talent including an exclusive preview of Nathan’s next song sung to our guest presenter, Naomi Goodman; highlights of what’s next for Damage as they make their long awaited comeback and Coolio’s never been seen before Nikki (Big Brother) ‘oh my god’ impression.

We also had the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s best un-signed up and coming talent, G-Frsh, a rising UK Hip Hop artist with currently over 3 million YouTube hits and Foreign Beggars, who have been making noise on the underground scene since 2002 and again amassing millions of YouTube hits – keep an eye on our site as we’ll soon be launching a competition to win a signed CD from Foreign Beggars when their new album drops on October 18th..
