The countdown is officially on for Boardmasers 2019, with just 100 days to go until world-class live music and epic international surfing comes to Cornwall for five unforgettable days headlined by Wu-Tang Clan, Florence + the Machine and Foals.
Cornwall’s own surf and music festival takes place from Wednesday 7 – Sunday 11 August 2019across two stunning sites, Fistral Beach for exhilarating international surf action and Watergate Bay for world-class live music and simply unbeatable views. MUSIC AT WATERGATE BAY
Boardmasters festivalgoers will be treated to an unmissable line-up this year, with internationally-renowned headliners Wu-Tang Clan, Florence + The Machine and Foals taking to the main stage against the picture-perfect backdrop of Watergate Bay. With twelve stages at Boardmasters, where better to check out some of the biggest acts in the world right now, or discover exciting emerging artists. Other acts not to be missed include Giggs, Jorja Smith, The Wombats, Razorlight, Lewis Capaldi, Slaves, Idles and more. At The Netloft, BBC Music Introducing Devon & Cornwall will play host to talented up and coming acts, many who are born and raised in the local area – the best in brand new Cornish talent.
SURF COMPETITION AT FISTRAL BEACH
Boardmasters and the World Surf League bring the biggest names in surfing from 20 countries around the world to the UK’s surf mecca, Fistral Beach. The WSL surf competitions at Boardmasters are free to attend and promise exhilarating surf action as the best of British and international surfing battle it out against the unrivalled backdrop of the Cornish coast. Boardmasters’ surf ambassadors – Lucy Campbell, Luke Dillon and Tassy Swallow – just some of the UK’s most exciting surf talent will also be joining in the competition.
BEYOND THE MUSIC
There’s much more to discover beyond the music at Boardmasters, with everything from aerial yoga, gong baths, life drawing, mindfulness, fitness, beach cleans, shopping and street food. Boardmasters’ Zennor Haven is the perfect place to relax and unwind, with its roots firmly embedded in legendary Cornish mermaid folklore, slow down and discover a world of mindfulness within its hidden walls. With everything from yoga to reiki, and gong baths to wood-fired hot tubs, what better way to refresh mind, body and soul during the festival. There will be coastal runs for fitness lovers, as well as beach cleans taking place throughout the festival to ensure the beautiful Cornish coastline is left spotless. The best independent clothing brands, local Cornish sellers and street food vendors will be at Boardmasters to get everyone into the festival spirit!
Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters was born in 1981. Expect parties that run late into the night and a beautiful beach to recuperate on during the day. The five-day event is situated across two stunning locations in Cornwall – UK surfing mecca, Fistral Beach, where world-class International Surf Competitions take place, and the most stunning location in the country to watch live music, Watergate Bay.
