|Codeko delivers arguably the most affecting record of his career to date: a powerful, emotional anthem written at a testing time for the young artist, now accompanied by a video that will resonate with anyone who’s experienced the tedium of lockdown.Codeko – a classically trained musician turned electronic producer – has been heavily in demand the world over ever since his remix of Marshmello’s ‘Silence’ hit #1 on both Sirius XM’s BPM countdown the Soundcloud dance chart. Since then Codeko’s popularity has increased exponentially thanks to hits such as his remix of Kygo & Selena Gomez It Ain’t Me and originals like Say Hi and the more recent Daydreaming, all of which have clocked up millions of streams across various platforms and picked up support from acts like The Chainsmokers, Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell, Cash Cash, and Tritonal.|
Bad At Being Alone was written during an extremely busy, intense period for Codeko, at the end of a three-month tour during which he was travelling constantly: living out the dream he’d worked so hard for, but struggling with the relentlessness of travel and isolation of being away from home.“Bad At Being Alone is a very personal track to me, and probably the most meaningful track I feel I’ve written. Towards the end of last year, I was abroad for shows for nearly 3 months straight and had barely seen my friends and family in that entire period. It was a bittersweet moment for me; I was genuinely enjoying touring & was achieving what I had worked so hard for. But after nearly 10 weeks straight, it was turning into a blur of constant tiredness, hotels, planes and strange places, largely by myself. I wasn’t sure whether it was justified or whether I was just bad at dealing with it; and I wanted the song to capture this “happy but not quite” emotion I was feeling.”With today’s pandemic, many feel another way of Bad At Being Alone in isolation. This track to me right now feels connected with the world. Whatever struggles you are having lately, I hope this record can help show that you aren’t completely alone and we’ll push through it together.” CodekoThe resulting track is something you can absolutely still rave along to at a club or live show, but has an unmistakable thread of melancholy running through it, both in the lyrical content and the production: a perfect balance of dancefloor punch and emotional resonance.
