NCS YES LIVE – HEADLINED BY TINIE TEMPAH

NATIONAL CITIZEN SERVICE (NCS) ANNOUNCES

‘NCS YES LIVE’ A PRO-SOCIAL MUSIC EVENT
HEADLINED BY TINIE TEMPAH
CELEBRATING TEENS’ SOCIAL ACTION.

Headlined and curated by NCS Ambassador Tinie Tempah
Rewarding Stars of Social Action
The Roundhouse, 29 March 2016

Tinie Tempah has announced that he will headline and curate NCS YES LIVE taking place at the Camden Roundhouse on 29 March 2016. NCS YES LIVE is a pro-social live music and award show for 3,000 young people celebrating the impact of NCS graduates’ social action projects on local communities across the UK.

Tinie Tempah is an ambassador for National Citizen Service (NCS), a four week part-residential programme for 16-17 year olds in the UK, focused on fun and discovery but designed to build confidence, grow life skills and increase social conscience.

Speaking of his role as NCS Ambassador Tinie added, “NCS plays a vital role in helping this generation of young people fulfil their potential in life, at work and as socially active citizens. Mixing young people from different backgrounds and schools together, NCS provides each individual with a common experience. In turn, they’ve given back more than eight million hours of their time to community projects, raising approximately £1.4m for good causes. That’s why I’m so excited for NCS YES LIVE on 29th March – because I have worked hard on making it an unmissable and unforgettable event, as our way of saying thank you to everyone that got involved.”

Tinie Tempah will be headlining NCS Yes Live with fuirther acts to follow

NCS is built on the belief that given the respect, tools and opportunity young people can change the world around them. A recent Ipsos Mori evaluation of NCS into the immediate and longer-term benefits of the programme show that NCS is having a positive and long-lasting impact on its participants, with NCS graduates being more capable, confident, connected and compassionate than their peers. Over 200,000 16 and 17 years olds have taken part in this rite of passage since the programme was founded in 2011.

On 29 March 2016, NCS will celebrate these achievements with NCS YES LIVE, an event crammed with live music performances, YouTuber appearances, special guest hosts and two awards that acknowledge ‘Social Action Star’ as well as the ‘Most Inspirational Team Leader or Mentor’. To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets, 16 & 17 year olds should sign up to the programme at yeslive.ncsyes.co.uk before 29th February.

Natasha Kizzie, Marketing and Communications Director at NCS Trust said, “Teenagers get a lot of negative press, and NCS knows that this generation of teenagers are more socially aware, connected and caring that any generation before. We are proud of our NCS graduates and all the millions of hours they have spent rolling their sleeves up to deliver social action projects that make a difference to the lives of others in local communities countrywide. The real stars of our NCS YES LIVE event are the young people who have already taken part in NCS or plan to do so this summer. We want to shine a light on them and inspire other teenagers to get involved. NCS is a truly unique way to spend four weeks of the summer holidays. It is a great opportunity to meet new people from different backgrounds, grow life skills and have fun. We know that doing good, feels good and we want as many teenagers as possible to have an experience to change their lives”’

Over a four week programme plus 30 hours dedicated to a social action project of their choice, NCS prepares young people for the next stage in their lives, building the confidence that they can live away from home, be self-sufficient and pursue the career they want. NCS takes young people out of their comfort zone, helping them to confront challenges, face fears and build resilience, and the opportunity to meet and mix with people from all walks of life that they may never have met before.
