Frank Turner Plays One-off show at The Forum Hertfordshire
Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls will play a special festival warm-up show at The Forum Hertfordshire on Thursday 22 August.
- Support will come from Felix Hagan & the Family and Sam Russo
Following the release of his acclaimed new album Tape Deck Heart, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls will be playing The Forum Hertfordshire on Thursday 22 August. The show will be a one-off warm up show before he plays Reading and Leeds Festival’s main stages the following two days. The support will be provided by Sam Russo singer-songwriter of England’s Haverhill and Felix Hagan & the Family, an eclectic a seven-piece experience.
After 1,400 live shows and four acclaimed albums, last year saw the musician, Frank Turner, previously known as a punk poet become (whisper it) a sort of pop star. Turner recently performed at the Olympics Opening Ceremony, headlined Wembley Arena and sold more than 100,000 copies of his fourth album, England Keep My Bones, which entered the UK charts at No 12 on its release in 2011.
The recent success however took him unawares, “insane things have happened since England Keep My Bones came out,” he says. “The success I’ve experienced was entirely unexpected. It made me think about where I started and where I’m heading. It made me wonder if I could continue as a musician with integrity influenced by punk rock while doing arena tours. The answer I concluded is yes, obviously, or I wouldn’t be here.”
Felix Hagan & The Family are a seven-piece beast made of ‘makeup, hairspray, lovely ladies and staggering musicianship’. Under the captaincy of bandleader Felix, they are honoured to bring their unique sound to the Forum with as much pomp, magic and madness as possible.
Frank will be joined at The Forum by his band The Sleeping Souls, consisting of Ben Lloyd, Matt Nasir, Nigel Powell and Tarrant Anderson. Playing as both his live and studio band since 2006, their Forum performance will no doubt be polished and electric as ever, in what will no doubt be a memorable night.
