Jaguar Skill, the mysterious Ninja DJ made his name by merging genres in his cut-n-paste hip hop influenced mixes. After impressing Zane Lowe back in 2002 his mixtape found its way to the BBC. Since then Jag’s tapes have rang out from the Radio One tower weekly at 8pm on The Trevor Nelson Show.

His love for DJing started almost from birth; his father was a famous DJ in the 70s and 80s owning an enormous record collection. Jag delved through this vast collection, finding appreciation for many music genres.
Jaguar Skills started mixing hip-hop which began with the purchase of his first decks. His quick-mixing style emerged when he was introduced to the advancing technology of Ableton and Serato; allowing laptop mixing and vinyl to synthesise. His cut-and-paste style emerged almost accidentally while he was backing up other artists and wanted to make his sets unique. He has been quoted to say: “I didn’t plan ever to become a mash-up guy, it was really, me learning about the technology available”.

His tracks are intended to tell the story going through his head. He is influenced by films B-movies and cult classics. He aspires to making music as visual as possible and likens his tracks as “the soundtrack to the movie in my head”.
Jaguar Skills worked hard to get to the point he is at, DJing for 10 years before becoming a known name and selling out gigs.

Radio 1’s masked Ninja returns on 1st July with a mammoth new mix compilation for the mighty Ministry Of Sound, ‘Jaguar Skills And His Amazing Friends Vol 2’.

Taking the listener on a mind-blowing journey through all the sounds of the musical spectrum, this colossal new compilation features over 39 records expertly blended in Jaguar Skills’ own inimitable way, into 18 unique tracks that create a rich pastiche of every tempo and style imaginable.

Jaguar Skills is already world renowned for his unrivalled ability behind the decks, and on this explosive new album, he has perfectly captured the incendiary nature of his sell-out live shows.

From the dirty Drum & Bass of Noisia, Subfocus and Breakage; the sleek deep house of Layo & Bushwacka and Aeroplane; the deadly vibrations of Modestep and Dirtyphonics; the electro rhythms of Jacques Lu Cont and Fake Blood; the thrilling Trap of DECiBEL and the Hip-Hop flavours of DJ Yoda – Jaguar Skills delivers a masterful mash-up of sounds that quite simply no other DJ can deliver. Indeed, House influences feature more prominently than ever before.

Overall then on ‘Jaguar Skills And His Amazing Friends Vol 2’ , it is clear that the years of crate-digging and honing his trade as a lightening quick mixer have paid off as the moshpit magician has once again conjured up a special compilation and delivered his finest piece of work to date.

To witness the electric essence of ‘Jaguar Skills And His Friends Vol Two’ first hand, there will be an album launch party at KOKO in London on June 22nd . For this one-off extravaganza Jaguar Skills has enlisted the considerable talents of Monsta, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Saturn V, and DEVolution to help launch his album is spectacular fashion.
