Top 5 Comic Book Films of 2014

5. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

It seemed like forever that we waited for the sequel (or prequel) to 2005’s Sin City. The stylish film looked spectacular at the time but with so many having copied its style in the 9 years leading to the second installment, the looks are not as impressive. The story and action however flow thick and fast, filling in gaps from the original and introducing new characters. This one needs to be followed or you could lose your self in the ‘jump aropund’ narrative. May also be worth watching the first one again just before this one. If your a fan you wont be dissapointed. If you like your films with action, car chases, sexy women, stunts and action (like we do) then you to wont be dissapointed.

4. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the only one of the films in this list that didnt start life as a comic book.
This makes no differecne though. The film is awesome. With the most touching story of all the films on this list, Planet of the Apes (just as the original films are) is about a world where Apes, not man, have the upper hand. Action, SFX and genuinely tear jerking moments. One of our favourite films of 2014.

3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The original Captain America was probavly the weakest (though not bad) out of the first line-up of recent Marvel superhero movies. The Winter Soldier however, is closer to being the best. With the introduction of Falcon into the series, real plot twists and some serious kickass action. Captain America 2 is easily in our top5.

2. X-Men: Days of Future Past

This is the best X-Men film that has been released.  I was a big X-Men fan growing up so am always looking for things they have done wrong.  DOFP is one of my all time favourite story arcs and while it is not a direct port from the comic book, they have taken the jist and adapted it for the big screen in a pretty awesome way. A film finally worthy of the X-Men title.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy

GOTG is adapted from one of Marvels lesser known comics, but the people at Marvel Studios have a winning formula for their super hero movies. The team and backstory for the GOTG was perfectfor a movie.  It would seem Marvel took a bit of a gamble with this one but the film has gone on to gross nearly $1 billion worldwide.
A gamble that paid off, GOTG is our comic book film of the year (2014).
It reallt does have every thing you would want, interesting leads, interesting bad guys, hilarious dialogue, lots of action, awesome SFX oh and did we mention an awesome soundtrack.
